Project Description
India – Taj and Tigers
No other travel destination excites the senses more than India – the beauty of its temples and mosques, the excitement of the big cities and the fragrant spices of the national cuisine. SAT’s classic Taj and Tigers tour is a great introduction to this wonderful country. The great city of Delhi is the starting point with visits to some of the great monuments of the middle ages including the great minaret of Qutb Minar and the lavishly decorated halls of the Red Fort. There is also time to see the fascinating market place at Chandni Chowk. The city of Agra is the next stop with a visit to the incomparable Taj Mahal – the beautiful marble tomb of Shah Jehan’s third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. There are also visits to Rajasthan’s amazing capital city of Jaipur and to the Tiger Reserve at Ranthambore, where you can catch a glimpse of these iconic creatures. If you have more than a week to visit, then there is a lot more to see – the ancient Hindu temple at Khajuraho, the serene Buddhist monasteries of the Himalayan province of Ladakh or spend a week traveling in regal splendour on the sumptuous Palace on Wheels train.
Alternatively after a week spent seeing the spectacular sights of India, relax for a few days on the beach at Goa or on the beautiful shoreline of Kerala.
