Project Description
The English Garden
London’s prestigious Chelsea Flower Show (May 19-23, 2015) is the centrepiece of our English Garden itinerary. If you can’t make it during Chelsea week though, you can still visit England’s wonderful gardens at any time during the spring or summer. The gardens of Cornwall in the south west flower early in April and there is plenty to see at the time of the Hampton Court Flower Show in July.
Day 1:
Arrive at London’s Heathrow Airport and drive straight to the elegant formal gardens at Stourhead. Continue to your first-class hotel in England’s beautiful Cotswolds region.
Day 2:
A full day tour of the delightful villages of the Cotswolds takes in the gardens at Hidcote Manor as well as nearby Kiftsgate Manor.
Day 3:
This morning we leave the Cotswolds for London via visits to the historic city of Salisbury and the amazing Neolithic monument at Stonehenge. Check in to your central London hotel before an afternoon sightseeing tour showcases some of the capital’s highlights.
Day 4:
A full free day at the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual Chelsea Flower Show. Spend as much or as little time as you like amongst the show gardens and trade exhibits.
Day 5:
Time today for one last excursion – to Kent, the Garden of England. First stop is Vita Sackville West’s spectacular garden at Sissinghurst Castle. Then continue to Christopher Lloyd’s creation at Great Dixter for one last visit before heading straight off to the airport to catch your flight home.
